Reasons why .EU account details cannot be deleted

Under our current Maltese License requirements, one of the pieces of legislation with which we must comply is the Prevention of Money Laundering and Funding of Terrorism Regulations (Legal Notice 180 of 2008) which can be found here.

Section 13.3 of this Code sets out provisions that mean we are not permitted to delete, destroy or alter any information stored in our database for a set period of time (at least 5 years following the last transaction made by a customer or following the closing of the customer's account).  Note however that your information, in the absence of any other legal requirement, will be deleted following the expiry of the applicable retention period.
